Golden Award for a Golden Project?

Zumo 1 min read

To amaze, stimulate, challenge or relax people with a disability. Project Oase in Het Gielsbos does it all. No wonder it caught people's attention. And now the project is not only nominated for the Henry van de Velde Gold Awards, it also has a shot at the Henry van de Velde Public Gold Award. That’s why Zumo is incredibly proud to shine a light on this amazing project.

Het Gielsbos is a place where disabled people find a home. An internal call for projects led to the idea to create an ‘oasis’ of experiences. In collaboration with Bailleul, a building with three sensory rooms was designed. Curious to see what it looks like? You can discover the story of Oase in the video below.

Why is Oase so successful you ask? One word, teamwork. The expertise of design agency Bailleul was combined with the experience of the staff of Het Gielsbos, the team of Vanhout.pro and the people of Create. So, it’s no wonder that the project won the Henry van de Velde Award within the category ‘Collaborative’.

In fact, Oase was selected for one of the twelve Henry van de Velde Gold Awards. An amazing achievement, as the Henry van de Velde Awards are the most prestigious design awards in Belgium. Even more, Oase also has a shot at the Henry van de Velde Public Gold Award. We’ll find out out whether the project actually succeeds to bring those awards home on the 22nd of january. Until then, we are keeping our fingers crossed!

UPDATE:

We don't know whether keeping our fingers crossed actually helped, but on the 22nd of January project Oase won the Henry Van de Velde GOLD Award Collaborative!!!
